With two appointments within InterVarsity — as an Associate Director of Graduate & Faculty Ministries and as Web Producer with Information Services — I have the privilege of pursuing my calling and vision in multiple directions.

Appointments

After two years' work as the Program Director for InterVarsity's Following Christ 2002 conference, in May 2003 I was appointed Associate Director of InterVarsity's Graduate & Faculty Ministries division to oversee communications. In that capacity, I am responsible for strategizing and then implementing our national plans for connecting people, ideas, and opportunities — both online and in print — as we seek to be a redeeming influence within the world of graduate and professional education. In addition, I have a joint appointment as Web Producer, a member of the Web Team for all of InterVarsity's ministries. Joining this group of skilled, caring, and creative colleagues has been a delight for me, and we've been pleased recently to launch many new sites and projects. Calling

In short, the nature of my calling is two-fold:

• to work in multiple media, building effective, thoughtful, and appealing communications out of good design and good writing

• to serve InterVarsity staff and local-chapter leaders in their communication needs

These two dimensions of my daily work are a true delight to me, draw upon my gifts and experience both in the academy and the Internet world, and put me into close partnership with esteemed colleagues all around the US. God has continued to reaffirm a joyful calling both to serve my colleagues and to minister alongside them.

Vision

Why I'm throwing myself into this work is for the sake of a vision that underlies my work:

• of enlivened universities, deepened in their capacity to nurture intellectual, cultural, and spiritual maturity;

• of more thoughtful and genuine Christians in the academy and the culture-making institutions of our society (from law and business to the arts and government);

• of beautiful and communicative websites (and other texts) that benefit academics and professionals and that give glory to God;

• and of InterVarsity staff and chapter leaders who have all the resources they need to communicate with one another, their peers, and their university communities.
