GFM · Prayer Once a Year, Face to Face |
|||||||||
I have a chance this week to work face-to-face with my colleagues on the Graduate & Faculty Ministries (GFM) Leadership Team. We're a far-flung team — but a real team, nonetheless. Collectively, we have national responsibilities: to supervise all of the various GFM ministries, to set vision and plan for the future, and to ensure that GFM staff members working on the front lines of campus ministry have all the resources they need. But we're not just national in the scope of our responsibilities: we're national in the spread of our home addresses! We live in Massachussetts and California, in Wisconsin and Florida, and many places in between. That's why we have to rely on conference calls (which we have monthly) as a forum for our regular collaboration. Fortunately, we work really well together, so we get a lot done even when connected only by phone. But as we gather for four days, starting Monday, September 13, for our once-a-year, dedicated, face-to-face meeting, it will be an especially productive — and, frankly, enjoyable — opportunity to work more immediately together on the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead of us in GFM. Will you please pray with us that these meetings will be fruitful for the sake of the Gospel in the university? We will dedicate our time together for his purposes and for the benefit of graduate and professional students and faculty. In particular, I'll be leading us in a series of three Bible studies around the theme of "A Redeeming Influence," which is a phrase that's prominent in InterVarsity's core commitments and especially in the vision of GFM. Your prayers for God to speak to us through his Word would be a blessing to me and the whole team. |
