I'll be giving the morning's sermon on May 23, 2004, at Grace Evangelical Covenant Church in Chicago. Mark your calendars now, either to be present or to be at a convenient distance (as you prefer).

Deb Gustafson, our senior pastor at Grace, is on sabbatical for May through July this year and we'll miss her, perhaps in the pulpit particularly. She's such a gifted and careful teacher that filling her shoes is both difficult and an honor — making it a real privilege that I'm being let anywhere near this responsibility.

It's a repeat appearance actually, since last July I preached on Philippians 1:12-30. This year, I'm part of a series working through the book of Acts, and my assignment is Acts 2:42-47. In fact, the teaching is really a joint responsibility of mine with Sue Dorman, my fellow Council-member with whom I share oversight of the area of fellowship at Grace. (Hence the passage: one of the classic texts about Christian community in the Bible.)

The service will be at 10:00 am at 4201 N Monticello Ave in Chicago. I hope to see you there! I intend to obtain a good recording of the sermon and make it available here for download. Stay tuned.
